Big News from the Renewing Life Center

The Renewing Life Center is growing!

Pat Meye and Mark Welchel are incredible leaders who created a wonderful ministry, and God has continually blessed us over the years as we seek to bless people in Las Vegas.

2024 will be a big year as we expand to a second location in the Northwest part of our city. We don’t yet know where our building will be, but thanks to generous donors we have raised enough money. Please pray that God will lead us to the perfect location!

Mark and I will continue as Co-Directors of Renewing Life from our current location, and we are excited to announce that we have promoted Samantha Winters to be our new Assistant Director and the future leader of our Northwest team.

I recently interviewed Samantha so you can get to know her a little better.

1.     How long have you been working at the Renewing Life Center?

I’ve been working with the Renewing Life Center since March of 2018. I completed my student internship and my licensed internship here and have felt so at home I chose to stay on staff as a fully licensed clinician.

2.     Tell us about your counseling career?

As a counselor, I work with a wide array of clients - children, couples, adolescents, individuals, and families. I especially enjoy working with people struggling with trauma and with adolescents and young adults as they navigate challenges and adjust to new and different seasons of life.

Prior to counseling I worked directly with children in the foster care system and taught classes for foster parents.

3.     What drew you to this career?

I've wanted to be a therapist since high school!

I took my first college psychology class as a sophomore in high school and had a vision then of pursuing child psychology as a career. Life took me down a different road that landed me in the business world where I found success helping small businesses grow and expand.

After having children, I found myself back in school pursuing my original career goal but with more life experience. I’ve found that life experience is what’s led me to become the therapist I am today.

4.     Tell us about your family.

We're a blended family with four children. I have two daughters (16 and 14) and a 13-year-old stepdaughter. My husband and I have a 7-year-old son together - who has provided us with a much-needed male presence in our home!

Two of our girls play volleyball and our son is newly obsessed with soccer and has plans to become a professional.

We spend much of our time navigating the lives of four busy children and expanding my husband's growing law firm.

We also have a 5-year-old GoldenDoodle named Marshall who God blessed with a calming demeanor that allows him to occasionally grace us with his presence here at the Renewing Life office.

5.     What’s your vision for the NW location?

My vision is to grow our reach so we can help more hurting people. My hope is to continue moving in the direction God has set out for us by expanding our presence in a meaningful way.  As we expand, we want to maintain the same atmosphere already created in our current location. I’m looking forward to seeing what God has for us as we continue to provide quality Christian therapy services and support for those in need!

6.     OK, that’s enough important information. Tell us some fun things about you! What are some of your favorite things?

I don’t think of myself as being very fun (joking) (not joking), but I’ll try.

My favorite food is Mexican.

My favorite movie is “The Vow” (because I’m a hopeless romantic).

My favorite book is “Redeeming Love” (because I’m a hopeless romantic).

I love Pilates and yoga (because I’m a hopeless romantic) (jk).

I also love listening to podcasts, and buying things I don’t need on Amazon.

When I’m not caring for my people, sleep is my best friend.
