FAQs

What should I expect for my first session?

We have a very warm and welcoming environment. When you arrive for your first appointment you will be greeted by our wonderful office staff and will be given any unfinished paperwork to complete (you can also complete your paperwork in advance through our online portal). Once you have checked in and made your payment, you are welcome to grab a cup of coffee while you wait for your counselor. Your counselor will take you to their office where he or she will begin to get to know you and discuss your reasons for pursing therapy. Soon you will set some goals with your counselor and begin working through any areas of concern. Most of our clients describe our environment as peaceful and inviting. Our goal is that you feel welcomed and cared for from the moment you walk through our doors.

What are your rates?

Our goal is to make counseling affordable for everyone. We have a sliding scale fee based on overall household income:

For incomes below $50,000 per year the rate is $90.00 per session.

For incomes between $50,000 and $100,000 per year the rate is $110.00 per session.

For incomes above $100,000 the rate is $130.00 per session.

For our Clinical Psychologists, the rate is $160.00 per session for incomes above $100,000 per year.

If you are unable to afford the sliding scale fee we also have highly capable interns who can offer counseling at reduced rates according to your needs.

What is your cancellation policy?

We know that circumstances will occasionally arise that may interrupt a scheduled counseling appointment. We ask for a 24 hour notice to keep from being charged for your cancelled appointment. The 24 hour notice allows us to fill your space with another person who is seeking counseling.

What is Christian counseling?

The foundation of Christian counseling is seeking to apply the truth of God to life and relationships. His truth is revealed through a careful study of the scriptures and it is also discovered in His creation through good research, scholarly reflection, and disciplined practice.

Furthermore, Christian counseling is conducted by a counselor who:

·         has a deep and growing faith and genuinely loves God and others

·         counsels with excellence and follows established ethical guidelines

·         humbly seeks the presence and work of God in the counseling process

·         is genuinely respectful of the faith, values and worldview of each person

·         is guided by Christian principles in the selection of counseling interventions and goals

Do you see people outside the Christian faith?

Of course! Everyone is welcome to receive counseling through the Renewing Life Center. Our counselors are very open, receptive and sensitive to the many varied backgrounds, beliefs and circumstances of people who are seeking counseling.

What if I can’t afford counseling?

We have a sliding scale fee to ensure that counseling is affordable for everyone. Do not let finances get in the way of getting the help you need. If you cannot afford our sliding scale fee we also have a variety of interns who will be able to offer counseling at a rate you can afford. Feel free to speak to the front desk when you call if you need to make arrangements for lower fee counseling.
